About Me

My Photo
Ben Guest
I grew up in Waitsfield, VT, Burlington, VT and Baltimore, MD where I attended Park School in Brooklandville, MD. I graduated from Amherst College (the fairest college of them all) in 1997 with a BA in English. After college I joined the Peace Corps and served in Namibia. I taught ESL in the towns of Engela and Tses. While traveling through Europe I was accepted into MTC. I taught 9th and 11th grade English at Simmons High School in Hollandale, MS and served as the assistant basketball coach for the boys and girls teams. I was lucky enough to win a 3A state championship with the boys' team in my first year coaching. I received an MA from Ole Miss as part of the Teacher Corps in 2002 and accepted a head coaching position at McLaurin Attendance Center in Star, MS. I was the head coach of the boys’ varsity, junior varsity, and middle school teams. I also taught 8th and 9th grade English. After one year at McLaurin I was planning to return to Hollandale as I missed the kids there. However, I was offered the position of Program Manager for the Teacher Corps and have served in this position since June of 2003.
